Understanding The Basic Rules Of Golf

There are many people who embark on playing golf but do not really try to understand the rules or the golfing terms used. It’s good to at least understand the basic rules before a game of golf.
Golf is played by striking a ball using a club on an area called “teeing ground.” Once the ball is hit, it typically travels fairways across and onto a next prepared area. A hole could be found in this area that is called a “putting green.”
The objective of the game of golf is that one should be able to complete a hole by means of hitting a ball from a teeing ground and place it inside the hole of the putting green in as few strokes as possible. What is usually referred to as a round of golf generally consists of 18 holes to be played in.
In golf, there are mainly two kinds of play to pick from. The winner in one kind of play is determined by the holes that are lost and won, this is referred to as a match play.
The other kind of play is determined by the number of strokes one has taken to complete a round. This is called a stroke play.
When playing golf, there are two relevant rules to remember: as you find the course, go play it. As the ball lies, it should also be played as such.
If you find it hard to follow the above rule, at least try your very best to do what is reasonable. How do you know what is fair? Below are the summarized rules to give you a good idea of how to play a good game of golf.

1. Avoid moving, chatting or standing too close to a golfer who is about to make a stroke.
2. Play with a minimum amount of delay. As quickly as the players in the group that you are in have left, it is just as best that you do the same. Try your best not to play until the group is already out of the way.
3. As much as possible, try to replace the divots. Also, remember to smooth any footprints found in the bunkers.
4. It is greatly inadvisable to drop your clubs on the putting green, so don’t!
The Rules of Playing
1. Before playing that all important round of golf, the first thing you should do is to read the local rules stated on the score card you are holding.
2. After which do not forget to place an identifying mark on the ball you are going to use. Some golfers use the same type and brand of golf ball, if in case your ball is placed among these bunch, you will have difficulty finding which is which.
3. Make sure that you get to count your clubs before actual play. You should have a maximum of fourteen clubs.
4. When beginning actual play, it is best that you tee off in front of the tee markers.
When you tee outside this specified area and you are playing a match play, your opponent may have to ask you to repeat the stroke you just did. The good thing when one does this in a match play, you get to incur no penalty. However, if in a stroke play, you then are given a penalty of two-stroke.
5. If while you are playing and your golf ball happens to lie in a bunker or a water hazard, you should not in any way touch the ground of the bunker or the water before you do your down swing.
6. The ball must as much as possible be struck fairly and should neither be spooned or pushed.
7. It is alright for you to mark the ball that you are using. You could take your ball, clean it and place it on the exact place where it was.
8. When dropping a ball, it is best that you stand upright and then hold the ball at the length of your shoulder, and then you may drop it. If by dropping the ball it happens to strike your partner, you or your caddie, the ball must then be dropped again with no penalty.
9. It is also fine for you to lift your ball if by doing so you are able to assist another player. Or you also may lift any other ball as long as that ball interferes with your playing or interferes another player

The Basic Rules to Playing Golf

The game of golf is not only physically but also mentally challenging. It is a strategic game that has many fans around the world. Golf is played by hitting a golf ball using golf clubs on an area called the teeing ground. Once the ball has been hit, it will travel along fairways and into the next prepared area, where a hole is found. This prepared area is known as the putting green.
Simply put, the target of the game is of course to put the ball into the hole in as few hits as possible. This means that a golfer has to complete the hole by hitting the golf ball from the teeing ground into the hole in the putting green using the golf club in as little strokes as possible. A round of golf usually means a play of 18 holes.
There are two basically two kinds of play in golf. In the match play, the winner is determined according to the number of holes lost and won. In the other kind of play, which is the stroke play, the winner is the golfer who uses the least number of strokes to complete a round.
In playing the game, there are two very fundamental rules to adhere to: Play the course as you find it; and play the ball as it is found.

Rules to Playing Golf

In the case of dropping a ball, the best way to do so would be to stand straight and to hold your golf ball at the length of your shoulder, and to drop it gently. Should you, in dropping the ball, happen to strike another player, the caddie or even yourself, you must drop the ball again. This is done with no penalty.
It would also be all right for you to pick up your ball if by doing so you would assist another player. On the other hand, you may also lift any other ball if that ball is interfering with your playing or another player.

Tips for Beach Party Game

Most of the youngsters are enthusiastic of sports, games and outdoor games. Entertainment, fun and enjoyment are what they seek in the party. From this article you can find the way how a sport enthusiast can be fully entertain by simple game.
After the meal the girls brought out the summer sports. First was a game of “Beach Ball.” The guests formed a circle and were numbered 1, 2, 1, 2, and so on around the circle. The players numbered 1 became one team and had a blue beach ball; those numbered 2 were the opposing team and were given a red ball. Jane explained that the balls were to be passed to team members only. This meant that each player threw the ball past the person standing next to him and into the hands of his own team mate immediately beyond.
At a signal the balls were started off in opposite directions. The balls had to make three complete trips around the circle to finish one race. The balls changed directions after each race; that is, the team of players after passing its ball three times around to the right for the first race, passed it three times around to the left for the second race, and around to the right again for the last. The team winning two out of three races was declared champion.
Large colored balloons can be substituted for beach balls. This game is lots of fun whether played on a beach or at a beach party in your amusement room.
A game of “Horseshoe” is always good on the beach. In place of driving stakes into the sand the girls used a child’s game of horseshoe, with the stakes on metal standards and hard rubber horseshoes. These rubber shoes are really much harder to throw than the kind Old Dobbin wore.
Nevertheless, the same rules applied game was fifty points. Ringing the stake counted three points. If the player made a ringer with both shoes he was credited with six points. Points were awarded also for position. The nearest one to the stake scored one point. If both nearest belonged to the same player he got two points.
A combination of one ringer and one shoe nearest the stake counted four points. Only one player scored in a turn. If both players made ringers each canceled the other. If the horseshoes of opponents were equidistant from the stake no points were awarded for either of the players. First play in the next turn was given to the member of the winning team at the opposite stake.
For the golf enthusiasts the next game on the program was “Clock Golf.” Jane drew on the floor, with chalk, a circle fifteen feet in diameter, and numbered it around its circumference like a clock face. She then placed a tin can, about four inches in diameter, in the center of the circle. So that the balls would roll into the can she fitted a wide sloping cardboard collar around the can. Then she gave each guest a golf stick and let him or her choose a position at some number on the clock face. The winner was the one who “holed out” in the smallest number of strokes.
After this, everyone except one of the girls seated themselves in a circle. This one girl left the room. While she was gone someone paid her a compliment. Upon her return to the room, Jane told her, “Mary, someone has said that you were a very excellent skipper. Who was it?” Mary had three guesses to learn the identity of her admirer. If she guessed correctly, that one left the room. If she didn’t guess her admirer, she chose someone else to leave. After this game of “Compliments,” the club members had a good old songfest, remembering particularly the songs they had sung together last summer on the beach.
At going-home time it was almost hard to remember to don storm coats and galoshes, the illusion of a summer beach party had been so strong.

Golf Training Aids, Golf’s Fundamental Misconceptions

Whenever you talk with golfers about golf instruction, they all seem to be very interested in the latest gadget, gimmick, trend, or secret method but mention fundamentals and they tune out quicker than you can say jack rabbit.
“That’s just for beginners,” they say citing their current 19 handicap as evidence that they have progressed beyond working on their grip, posture, and alignment. But talk about the “X-Factor” or “Speed Stick” or “The Power Move” or “The Magic Pill” or “The Inside Path” or some other new-fangled gimmick and they immediately start to salivate at the thought of becoming a single digit handicapper just by buying another videotape, DVD, or gimmick.
The truth is that yes, you can play good golf even with poor fundamentals but it’s so much easier to get your golf game on track and keep it on track if your golf swing is fundamentally sound. There is a moment in every golf swing whether it be a full driver swing, a 3 foot putt, or a 30 yard pitch, that I like to call “the moment of truth.”
The “moment of truth” determines whether or not a given shot will start on line and where it will finish.
This “moment of truth,” impact, is really the only thing that matters whether you’re pounding your driver or trying to coax in a 3 footer. Whether or not you can square the face of the club to the intended target line at impact determines how successful any single swing will be.
Let’s take for example, Lee Trevino. Trevino’s swing was not what you’d call classic but he was very skilled at squaring the face of the club to the target line at impact. He spent years honing his motion to a fine edge, spending countless hours on the driving range and golf course so that he could consistently square the face of the club to his intended target line. Jim Furyk is another example of someone with a less than classic motion who has major championship talent and who has spent his entire life honing his golf swing so that he can consistently square the club face to the intended target line. Fred Couples is another example and the list goes on and on. These players, all from different set-up positions, have trained themselves to square the club face to the intended target line at impact and you can too.
Having said that, let me say that most of us simply don’t have the time or talent required to hone our action to this very fine edge so it’s awesomely important that with limited practice and playing time, we give ourselves the very best possible chance to hit good shots and that means to play our best golf it would behoove each of us, no matter our current handicap, to work on developing sound fundamentals. It’s just easier with a good grip, good posture, and good alignment to hit shots that fly toward the target and that’s what we all want …..right?
So why do players who would love to play like Tiger Woods, who consistently shoot in the upper 80′s, 90′s, and worse, steer clear of the very fundamental concepts that would help them play better and shoot lower scores? Is it pride? Is it a misconception they have about what’s important? What is it? I can guarantee you that Tiger Woods works diligently on fundamental concepts like grip, posture, and alignment. He does this because he knows that if one of these fundamentals gets a little off, it will effect his entire swing. He knows this as do all tour players and most low handicappers.
Good players work consistently to develop and maintain a good grip, athletic posture, and square alignment.
Bad players don’t. Players who struggle seem to work on gimmicks, fads, and tricks in an effort to improve but somehow year after year, they have a new set of clubs, new pair of shoes, the latest golf ball technology, a brand new gimmick, and yet they shoot the same old scores and hit the same bad shots.
Now I know that working on your grip, posture, and alignment are not nearly as exciting as working with the latest gadget you bought on the Golf Channel that will allow you to hit the ball 350 yards but if you’ll try working on your fundamentals as prescribed in “How To Break 90 In 3 Easy Lessons”, you’ll see results that you won’t find anywhere else. You might actually be surprised how good your swing really is when you put yourself in the optimum positions to excel.
I know it, Tiger knows it, and know YOU know it…. so get out there and get to work on the concepts that are truly essential if you are going to shoot the scores you’ve always dreamed of.
